It is with utmost honor that I would like to welcome you, our people. You
have been an amazing part of this memorable journey of transformation of St.
Andrew’s Secondary School - Rubindi.
I would love to thank God for he has been really merciful and his providence
bountiful. This year particularly has been a special one for us as a school. We
have managed to fund very big infrastructure projects including two large
capacity dormitories, a mega water harvesting system of about 50,000 liters, a borehole
among others to try and make the life of students and staff as comfortable as
possible. This could only be achieved with the generous hands and visionary
leadership of the Chairman Board of Governors with the help of all the
committees, PTA and the parents who are our core funders.
We had often had a challenge of inadequate water due to inconsistent
supply of water by National Water and Sewage Cooperation (NWSC) but with the
above intervention, the challenge of shortage of clean water will be in a
distant past sooner than later.
We have also ensured large production of furniture to try and accommodate
the ever increasing number of our students. 100 single seaters and 50 twin
desks were produced to supplement the current furniture in school.
Academically, we continue to grow from strength to strength, thanks to
our dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff.
Notwithstanding the logistical challenges that we undergo as we shift
from the old to the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC), we are optimistic that
your sons and daughters will come out as competent and self-reliant citizens at
the end of the day. This is because our teachers are well equipped to ensure
that learners achieve not only knowledge but also skills, values and attitudes
that will continue to shape the future of Uganda.
There has been a milestone achieved on the co-curricular activities front
too.
Our teams have always been an ever present feature in the regional and
national USSSA champions. Our girl’s football team is the champions for USSA
Fresh Diary Football for Mbarara district. At the regional champions, our
football teams for both boys and girls reached knockout rounds.
The Athletics team that represented Mbarara district at the National Ball
Games II and Athletics champion championships at Teso College Aloet was
predominantly made up of our students. We are grateful to all the efforts you
put in, we hope to perform even better next time.
As we all know that all work without play makes jack a dull boy, this
year we held our maiden cultural gala in which all the different cultures showcased
their invaluable traditions, customs, dances among others. It is worth noting
that as St. Andrew’s Secondary School, we are a multi-cultural community. We
acknowledge the fact that this cultural diversity continues to foster social
harmony, inclusivity and development.
We are forever grateful to the parents for trusting us with the future of
your children. We cannot take it for granted. We appreciate you for paying
school fees in time. The enrollment continues to grow. We are grateful to God.
However, all has not been rosy; we have had to deal with such challenges
as an inadequate library space, shortage of good dining hall and staff houses.
We are hopeful that we shall be able to carry out a number of large scale
infrastructure development including extending the dormitory for girls and constructing
a brand new toilet for the girls.
We are indebted to all of you for supporting St. Andrew’s SS - Rubindi in
any way possible.
